Running Tips - Finding The Time To Run
One of the biggest excuses for not running is "I don't have time". Everyone is super busy in their lives - working, housework, taking care of the kids, fixing dinner, etc. And, it can all be overwhelming. But, if running is going to be a part of your life, there are some ways to get it fit into your schedule.
Become an early morning runner. For me, this works the best. I love getting my run in first thing in the day - it gives me such energy for the rest of the day. My schedule is always crazy, and morning running really works. If you are a stay at home parent, you can get your run in before your significant other leaves for work. Also, if you have never been a morning person, this may take some getting used to, but it's great to know that you have your workout in for the day and don't have to worry about it.
You can run at lunch. If you have an hour for lunch, you can get a quick run in. You can see runners running around in down-town areas that are doing just that. Running in the middle of the day can give you the energy burst that you need to get through the second half of your work day.
Run in the evening. You can either run just as you leave work before heading home. This way you can get your run done before seeing what needs to be done when you get there. Many runners do this - that way they don't get home, get comfortable and then don't go back out to run.
Whenever you plan to run - make sure you stick with it. Schedule your running time and put it in your daily calendar. This way you make an appointment with yourself - and nothing comes between you and your workout.
You can also keep your running gear in your car. If you have some extra time that you didn't think you'd have, you have your clothes with you. You can get in a run then - it may even be when you have taken the kids to a ball practice.
Remember the important thing is to commit to your running if you are serious about sticking with it. Also, remember that it is important to get any run in rather than to just skip it entirely.
Running is a great lifestyle and can keep you in shape for years. Look at it this way - if you have a super busy life, your running will give you the energy you need to get it all done!
